Welcome to a community
where Sovereign people are taking the future into their own hands.
About us
Here at the First Nations Hub (FNH) we’re meeting a vital need in the Victorian Aboriginal community by providing a culturally safe, co-working space to advance grassroots campaigns for Country and community. This initiative continues the long legacy of community controlled spaces, including the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service and Koori Information Centre.
From the Community
In 2018, the Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF) engaged Lidia Thorpe (Gunnai-Gunditjimara) to provide an assessment on the nature of First Nation solidarity in the environmental movement. A key recommendation of her report Respecting Nature through First Law was for ACF to support the creation of a FNH.
By and for First Nations people
As part of its commitment to ‘Pay the Rent’, ACF is providing rental space and financing the operational costs of the Hub, however the space will be exclusively governed and operated by and for First Nation people
Building the future together
Operating out of the 60L Green building in Carlton on Wurundjeri Country, the FNH will host permanent organisations as well as provide hot desking opportunities for First Nation individuals, groups and social enterprises.
